The cocktail dress is probably the most versatile of all special occasion looks and you don't even need to drink to wear the cocktail dress!
The length of cocktail dresses varies depending on fashion and local custom. The length ranges from just above the knee to touching the ankle. When cocktail dress is about 5 cm (2 inches) above the ankle it is called tea length and when cocktail dress is almost touching the ankle it is called ballerina length, although ballerina length dresses usually fall into the evening gown category. Most cocktail dresses serve as a blank slate for you to accessorize, so have fun with adding pearls, diamond-looks and gold or silver.
